The Office of Research proudly hosted the first University-wide Undergraduate Research Celebration Day on May 31st, 2023 at Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC). The CUNY Undergraduate Research Council (CURC), composed of representatives from 20 undergraduate colleges, nominated projects reflecting the sweeping range of mentored research at their institutions.
Solo and choral music performances opened and closed the celebration. Twenty dancers from three colleges performed choreographed pieces. More than 200 students from the humanities, social sciences, and STEM fields gathered to display their posters and to engage with students, faculty, and staff.
Direct engagement in research exposes students to a growth mindset and expands their possibilities of working with leading employers, government agencies, and change agents. This new celebration offered students an arena to showcase their work mentored by CUNY’s world-class faculty.
