Cameron Boyce is gone but not forgotten, five years after his sudden death at 20 from a seizure caused by his epilepsy. In a series of heartfelt social media posts, Boyce’s family and friends honored him on May 28, which would have marked his 25th birthday.

"Happy 25th birthday my beautiful son,” his father, Victor Boyce wrote on Instagram. “There's no words to express how much we love and miss you. Even though you've left us, you still continue to touch and inspire people all around the globe. It still feels like a dream that I wish I could wake up from. I miss you so much Cameron.”

Cameron’s younger sister Maya kept her own message short and sweet, writing, “25” over a black screen on her Instagram Story.

Sofia Carson, who shared the screen with Boyce in Disney Channel’s The Descendants movies, shared her own tribute, alongside a photo of the late actor.

"Happy Birthday to our Angel,” she wrote. “I know you’re dancing in heaven. And god are they lucky to have you. Ps. I miss your smile and sunshine a whole lot extra today. Adore you forever my Cam. Forever and ever. And ever.”

Carson also shared a link to The Cameron Boyce Foundation, promoting the non-profit that honors its namesake's legacy by funding research, education, and awareness to cure epilepsy.

Fellow Descendants costar China Anne McClain chimed in as well, first with a side-by-side photo of her and Boyce in Grown Ups and Grown Ups 2. “Happy birthday Cam 🤍💚 i love you,” she wrote. In a follow up, she offered a special shoutout to Boyce’s parents, sharing a photo of herself with his mother, Libby.

"Knowing Cameron’s parent has helped me understand how Cam became the breathtaking man he was,” McClain wrote. “@laurynmcclain captured my reunion with @libboyce, who i love with my whole heart. i wanted to share this moment as well for Cameron’s birthday today. it was so nice hanging out with you & Vic yesterday Libby.”

Boyce was also remembered by his Jessie costars, Skai Jackson and Karan Brar. Along with Peyton List, the trio played adopted siblings growing up in New York City under the watchful eye of their small-town nanny. The sitcom marked Boyce’s first starring role at just 12 years old.

"Happy birthday cam :)," Brar wrote over a photo of Boyce smiling on the floor. Jackson shared a photo of herself and Boyce hugging, with the caption, “I’ll never forget you. Happy 25th Birthday.”

Sarah Jeffrey, who also starred alongside Boyce in the The Descendants, shared a black and white photo of them together, writing,“Happy heavenly 25th sweet sweet friend. It’ll never make sense. I miss you and love you always.”

Kenny Ortega, the High School Musical director who helmed the original three Descendants movies, shared a photo of Boyce laughing and encouraged fans to donate to his foundation

“HAPPY BIRTHDAY CAMERON BOYCE,” Ortega wrote. “Your Love, Compassion, Joy, and Generosity live amongst us, and continue to inspire our journeys. Celebrate Cam’s birthday with a donation of any size to the @thecameronboycefoundation and surpass their mission to raise $10,000. Let’s continue to do the work to cure #epilepsy and end SUDPEP in Cam’s name!”

The Cameron Boyce Foundation was launched by the actor’s family days after the news of his death.

“We just couldn't imagine his work [going] away, and it was also a way for us to cope," Libby told EW in 2021. "We're working to cure epilepsy and, if not cure, move treatments along more aggressively. As the guardians of Cameron's legacy, we are using his voice and his platform to get more attention on epilepsy.”

Victor added, "I wish the Cameron Boyce Foundation didn't exist because that would mean Cameron would be alive. But because this has happened and I can't escape real life, this situation has forced me into a position I never wanted but it has been impactful. In that sense, it's been amazing. I never imagined I'd be a part of something that makes such a difference in so many lives.”
